SUMMARY:Technical Visit to Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works
DESCRIPTION:Programme Highlights\nTo support sustainable development\, the 
 Drainage Services Department (DSD) initiated the relocation of the aging S
 ha Tin Sewage Treatment Works into caverns after conducting research and c
 onsultations in 2014. This project is anticipated to be completed by 2031.
  Once finished\, it will free up 28 hectares of land for other beneficial 
 uses and address current issues related to landscape\, odor\, and the agin
 g facilities of the existing sewage treatment works.\nThe visit may includ
 e a presentation at the Community Liaison Center adjacent to the site\, co
 vering the project introduction and fire safety strategy\, followed by an 
 outdoor tour at the site entrance.\n\nObjective of the visit\nThe technica
 l visit is aimed at providing members an opportunity to explore the innova
 tive solution involved in the STSTW as well as the associated safety measu
 res implemented. Members can also learn how the project can help to promot
 e suitable development and unlock the land resources of Hong Kong.\n\nTarg
