Programme Highlights
To support sustainable development, the Drainage Services Department (DSD) initiated the relocation of the aging Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works into caverns after conducting research and consultations in 2014. This project is anticipated to be completed by 2031. Once finished, it will free up 28 hectares of land for other beneficial uses and address current issues related to landscape, odor, and the aging facilities of the existing sewage treatment works.ย
The visit may include a presentation at the Community Liaison Center adjacent to the site, covering the project introduction and fire safety strategy, followed by an outdoor tour at the site entrance.
Objective of the visit
The technical visit is aimed at providing members an opportunity to explore the innovative solution involved in the STSTW as well as the associated safety measures implemented.
