The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Fire Division is delighted to invite aspiring engineers, students, and professionals to a special seminar on “Building Your Career in Fire Engineering: Route to membership of HKIE – Fire Discispline”. This event is designed to provide clear guidance on the pathways to becoming a member of HKIE, with a focus on the Fire Division’s unique role in safeguarding lives and property through fire engineering excellence.
During the seminar, distinguished speakers from the Fire Division will share insights into the membership requirements, application procedures, and professional competencies expected of candidates. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the assessment process, practical tips for preparing submissions, and the benefits of HKIE membership, including professional recognition, career advancement, and networking opportunities within the engineering community.
Whether you are a fresh graduate, an experienced practitioner, or simply interested in fire engineering, this seminar will equip you with valuable knowledge to plan your professional journey. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet peers and mentors who can support your development.
Speakers
Ir Prof. Eric Wai Ming LEE is Professor of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. A Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Registered Professional Engineer, he specializes in fire safety engineering, smoke movement, and evacuation dynamics.
He is the deputy chairman of the HKIE Fire Division 25/26 section and he is currently the panel member of Fire Discipline of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers He has served on government technical committees, secured major research grants, and played a leading role in advancing performance based fire safety design in Hong Kong and internationally.

The seminar is free of charge and prior registration is required. For HKIE members, please register via the web-link below. The organizers reserve the right to decline application if no membership no. is submitted.
